MALAYSIAN shares are expected to rise today after Wall Street notched a higher close last week and investors are set to buy blue chips such as Maybank and Axiata which reported better than expected earnings.
“Most brokerages will upgrade earnings estimates for the big cap stocks as the earnings season was not a let down as many had initially thought,” said a trader with a local investment bank. “Oil and gas counters are going to rally in tandem with the strong gains in oil markets, so there is overall positive sentiment.” US stocks rose on Friday, capping their third straight monthly advance, as rising commodity prices lifted shares of natural resource companies, while a sliding dollar boosted the allure of multinationals, including Coca-Cola Co
