Bursa unit to drive Islamic capital market

BURSA Malaysia Bhd announced today the establishment of a new subsidiary, BMIS Sdn Bhd, to house the operations and business activities of the Islamic capital market for the exchange. The establishment of a new subsidiary, which is a Syariah-compliant company, is focused on efforts to develop and promote the Malaysian Islamic capital market via progressive products and infrastructure.

BMIS was previously incorporated on April 15, 2009, as a private company limited by shares under the name of Komposite Prima Sdn Bhd and subsequently changed to its present name on May 21, 2009. BMIS’s authorised share capital is RM100,000.00 divided into 100,000 shares of RM1.00 each.

As at the date hereof, the issued and paid-up share capital is RM2.00 comprising two ordinary shares of RM1.00 each, which were acquired by Bursa Malaysia on June 1. Therefore, BMIS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia. -- Bernama
