RINGGIT
THE ringgit closed lower against the US dollar yesterday on weak demand for the local currency, dealers said. The US dollar also stayed firm against major currencies following the release of positive US jobs data. The ringgit slipped against the US dollar yesterday at 3.5010/5060 from 3.4990/4020 last Friday.
It was however, higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.4297/4346 from 2.4343/4384 last Friday and rose against the yen at 3.5993/6048
The Malaysia currency was higher against the British pound at 5.8264/8354 from 5.8507/8571 last Friday and gained against the euro at 4.9697/9775 from 5.0239/0292 previously.
