Malaysia may revise power prices in Sept
MALAYSIA may revise electricity prices in September, six months after the government reduced rates, Macquarie Group Ltd said in a report today. The changes may include a higher base and an increase in the price of natural gas purchased from state-owned Petroliam Nasional Bhd, to generate electricity, Macquarie said. The research house said the information was gathered after meeting members of Malaysia’s power industry including the country’s regulator and an unidentified power consultant. The Malaysian government, which controls utility Tenaga Nasional Bhd, may issue a new energy policy by the middle of next year, the report said. The policy is likely to include a new formula for electricity, Macquarie said. -- Bloomberg
