SHARE prices on Bursa Malaysia extended their uptrend at mid-morning following overnight gains on Wall Street, dealers said.
Positive economic news and earnings report from the United States renewed investors' sentiment, they said.
As at 11.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia Composite Index (FBM KLCI) was 5.27 points higher at 1,264.43 after opening 6.61 points better at 1,265.77.
Bursa Malaysia's Finance Index surged 47.74 points to 11,126.53, the Industrial Index rose 5.91 points to 2,591.95 and the Plantation Index gained 5.80 points to 6,193.93.
The FBM Emas Index increased 38.6 points to 8,522.6, the FBM Ace Index declined 22.82 points to 4,359.35 and the FBM70 Index rose 44.54 points to 8,370.76.
Advancers led decliners 373 to 154 while 216 counters remained unchanged and 574 others untraded.
Volume stood at 364.320 million shares worth RM401.470 million.
Heavyweights Sime Darby declined three sen to RM8.50, Maybank gained five sen to RM6.84, CIMB Group Holdings was flat at RM12.66 and Maxis remained at RM5.38.
As for actives, LCL Corporation gained 4.5 sen to 30.5 sen, Talam rose half a sen to 12.5, Focus Dynamics Technologies declined half a sen to 11.5 sen and Linear Corporation rose seven sen to 61 sen.
