KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of CIMB and AMMB rose at the midday break on Monday, Jan 11, enabling the FBM KLCI stay in the positive zone while glove makers were in focus due to strong upside for the sector.
Takaso Resources and Peduren were queried by Bursa Malaysia Securities over the unusual market activities of their shares and volume.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI rose 1.34 points to 1,294.32. Turnover was 783.88 million shares valued at RM730.22 million. There were 382 gainers, 248 losers and 238 stocks unchanged.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index added 1.37% to 22,601.39, Shanghai's Composite Index added 1.35% to 3,239.09 and Singapore's Straits Times Index rose 0.59% to 2,939.93. Japan markets were closed.
Gold rose US$14.70 to US$1,152.95 while light crude oil added 70 cents to US$83.45. Crude palm oil third-month futures fell RM4 to RM2,632.
Bloomberg reports Asian stocks and commodities rose after China's exports surged in December and imports rose to a record, showing signs the global economic recovery was speeding up.
At Bursa Malaysia, Allianz jumped 36 sen to RM4.63 with 62,100 shares done.
Ruuberex-WA rose 33 sen to RM2.13, Latexx-WA added 32 sen to RM3.24, Top Glove and Latexx 30 sen each to RM10.82 and RM3.77 while Rubberex gained 21 sen to RM3.03.
Takaso hit limit up, adding 30 sen to 52 sen and the warrants 30 sen to 35 sen while Peduren added 12 sen to RM1.59.
CMSB added 26 sen to RM1.80 after the company and its 51% owned PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd have approved the sale of their stakes in UBG BHD [] for RM465.52 million to PetroSaudi International Ltd or RM2.50 per share.
Talam was the most active with 74.4 million shares done, adding two sen to 12.5 sen after The Edge FinancialDaily reported it was on track to exit the Practice Note 17.
Ramunia added four sen to 47.5 sen and Ramunia-WA three sen to 33 sen in active trade after The Edge weekly reported Tabung Haji's TH Technologies Sdn Bhd could be injected into Ramunia as part of the restructuring exercise.
Dutch Lady was the top loser, down 20 sen to RM11.70, Magna-WA fell 14 sen to RM2.14, Ho Hip nine sen to Rm1.35. Tanjong slipped 10 sen to RM17.44.
