FORMIS Resources Bhd (Formis) (9008) has secured a RM69.84 million contract to supply, install and commission an integrated e-courts system for Malaysia's court rooms, called the e-Kehakiman system.
The contract, covering court rooms in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor, Penang and Sarawak, requires Formis to design and set up three systems encompassing e-filing, case management and queue management system and court recording and transcription. The company has one year to complete the implementation of the system.
Formis told Bursa Malaysia yesterday that its subsidiary, Formis Network Services Sdn Bhd, which tendered for the project in May this year, received the letter of award from the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department on Monday.
It has to supply a system to integrate the 166 courts identified and it must be integrated with existing internal systems of the courts. In other words, Formis will design and set up several web-based systems and integrate them with the Intranet gateway and Internet gateway for the courts.
Formis is also required to set up data and disaster recovery centres as well as a help desk and help implement change management for the system."The implementation of the e-Kehakiman system, as proposed by Formis, brings significant value propositions to the management of Malaysia's courts," Formis chief executive officer Datuk Mah Siew Kwok said.
Formis said the project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of its current financial year ending March 31 2010 and in the longer term. For the financial year ended March 31 2009, Formis recorded a pre-tax profit of RM15.6 million, up 256.2 per cent from the previous year.
