The Mesdaq market will be transformed into an alternative market, called ACE Market, which will be open to companies of all sizes and economic sectors.

The stock market's main and second boards will merge into a unified board, known as the Main Market, under a major revamp aimed at making Malaysia a more attractive listing destination.

All existing companies on the two boards will be moved to the Main Market, Securities Commission (SC) chairman Datuk Zarinah Anwar said. The revamp will also see the Mesdaq market being transformed into an alternative market, called ACE Market, which will be open to companies of all sizes and economic sectors.

Currently, it is mainly for technology and high-growth firms. These changes, which will take effect on August 3, are part of a new framework for listings and equity fund-raisings jointly launched by the SC and Bursa Malaysia yesterday.
