Teh resumes active role in Public Bank

KUALA LUMPUR: PUBLIC BANK BHD [] founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow is now holding weekly management meetings after having fully recuperated from a recent minor operation.

The bank said Teh had "resumed an active role" in the group and was now holding "weekly briefings and consultations sessions with his senior management staff" after undergoing surgery in July.

Public Bank disclosed this when releasing a press statement on Wednesday on the banking group winning several awards.

In its latest achievement, Public Bank won three awards in the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (Nacra) 2009 on Tuesday, for Overall Excellence Award for Most Outstanding Annual Report of the Year — Platinum Award; Industry Excellence Award for Main Board Companies in the Finance Sector; and Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia — Platinum Award.

"I am truly delighted that Public Bank's culture of excellence, developed through the 44 years of operations, has once again received recognition, this time for Public Bank's excellence in corporate reporting.

"Public Bank has received the Overall Excellence Platinum Award, the Industry Excellence Award and the Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia so many times, and this is indeed very exhilarating.

"Such achievements of excellence can only be possible with the teamwork and commitment of both management and staff in the Public Bank group," Teh said in the statement.
