KUALA LUMPUR: PHARMANIAGA BHD []'s privatisation concession for the Medical Laboratory and Store of the Health Ministry has been extended by another 10 years, with effect from Dec 1.
The company said on Friday, Dec 4 the agreement in principle by the Health Ministry to extend the concession for a further 10 years was subject to terms and conditions to be negotiated over six months from 1 December 2009.
In the interim, the existing concession agreement has been continued on the current terms.
Pharmaniaga managing director, Mohamad Abdullah said the company was confident that the parties could agree on new terms and conditions to secure the renewal of concession.
"The government's agreement in principle to give us the extension shows their confidence in our services, and enhances our aspirations to improve the national healthcare system for the benefit of the people," he said.
