KL shares easier at midafternoon

SHARE prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower at midafternoon today as investors remained on the sidelines in the absence of fresh leads, dealers said.

At 3.05 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) declined 1.93 points to 1,259.53, after opening 2.78 points lower at 1,258.68.

The FBM Emas Index slipped 14.27 points to 8,386.11, the FBM Top 100 Index shed 12.68 points to 8,197.94, the FBM70 Index dwindled 12.83 points to 8,061.09 and the FBM ACE Index was 29.22 points lower at 4,272.45.

The Plantation Index declined two points to 6,273.06, the Finance Index eased 8.301 points to 10,837.10 and the Industrial Index fell 7.75 points to 2,670.20.



Losers led gainers by 367 to 163 while 215 counters were unchanged and 535 others untraded.

A total of 391.5 million shares worth RM485.36 million were traded.

Leading the actives, Eti Tech declined 3.5 sen to 51.5 sen, ConnectCounty fell one sen to 4.5 sen while Silver-Warrant rose 2.5 sen to 18 sen.

DSC Solutions Bhd, a computer software company, which made its debut on the ACE Market today, opened at 50 sen for a 100 per cent premium over its reference price of 25 sen ex-bonus issue.

Among the heavyweights, Sime Darby and Maybank were unchanged at RM8.94 and RM6.78 respectively, CIMB fell two sen to RM12.84 and Maxis rose two sen to RM5.37. - Bernama
