TNB, Sediaplas ink power purchase pact

Published: 2009/10/20

TENAGA Nasional Bhd (TNB) has signed an agreement for the purchase of electricity generated by a small RE (Renewable Energy) power project developed by Sediaplas Sdn Bhd under the SREP program (Small Renewable Energy Power Program).

The SREP program was launched by the government in May 2001 to promote the utilisation of renewable energy in power generation and to reduce emission of greenhouse gases.

The signing of this REPPA (Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreement) demonstrates the continuous support given by TNB for the success of the government's SREP program, TNB said in a statement.

TNB has agreed to purchase the electricity from Sediaplas for a period of 21 years.

The estimated value of this REPPA is about RM18.4 million per year.

The RE power plant developed by Sediaplas which utilises methane gas from a tapioca scheme, will be located in Rompin, Pahang and will have an export capacity of 10 MW to TNB.

As to date, the total capacity under the REPPA is 74.55 MW. - Bernama
