Plantations weigh on FBM KLCI

KUALA LUMPUR: PLANTATION [] stocks weighed on the FBM KLCI in early trade on Monday, Oct 5, with the FBM KLCI nearing the 1,200 level again while most key Asian markets fell, tracking the losses on Wall Street last Friday.

At 10am, the FBM KLCI fell 2.05 points to 1,204.2. Turnover was 80.89 million shares valued at RM60.28 million. Losers beat gainers, two to one, with 167 decliners to 89 advancers and 134 stocks unchanged.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened 0.1% to 20,361.3, Singapore's Straits Times fell 0.41% to 2,593.85 but Japan's Nikkei 225 rose a marginal 0.05% to 9,736.63.

Light crude oil fell 15 cents to US$69.80.

At Bursa, CCM Duopharma Biotech hit limit-down, skidding 74 sen to RM1.76 but with 6,000 shares done in the absence of negative news.

NSTP fell nine sen to RM2.09 on reports Media Prima may make a lower takeover offer for the former.

United Plantations and KL Kepong fell eight sen each to RM13.30 and RM13.66 while IOI Corp lost seven sen to RM5.15 and NSOP five sen to RM4.

DiGi lost six sen to RM21.60, Sarawak five sen to RM2.11 and UPA five sen lower to RM1.45.

Sanichi was the most active with 13.3 million shares done, down 1.5 sen to 13 sen.

Top Glove rose 16 sen to RM7.32 and Supermax six sen to RM2.56 following a recent upgraded of Top Glove.

Apollo added 13 sen to RM3.02, HaiO 12 sen to RM6.48 while Zhulain added eight sen to RM1.88. Jetson added 10 sen to RM1.84 and Jeston-WA 7.5 sen to 89.5 sen as the securities recovered from last Friday's decline when the Naza brothers' conditional takeover failed.

Proton added seven sen to RM4.01 as the national car maker's outlook brightens up.
