CIMB Bank Bhd (1023)in collaboration with Maxis Communications Berhad (Maxis) have launched an online banking application for iPhone, known as the CIMB Clicks application.
"The application is the number one most downloaded application among iPhone users," said CIMB's head of retail banking Peter England in his speech at the launch in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
He added that so far 5,000 CIMB bank customers worldwide with iPhones were already utilising the application.
"This is without any advertisements or media coverage. It's amazing how people find things," he said, adding that the bank had over 5.3 million customers on a dual banking platform in 367 branches nationwide.
England said mobile banking application was safe as long as the password and user ID are keep intact by the user.
"Just don't do anything silly or respond to strange SMS, otherwise mobile banking is very safe," he added.
Meanwhile Maxis chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher said that people can view their bank accounts with the iPhone at a charge of RM2 per hour.
Other features that customers can enjoy from downloading the application into their iPhone are the CIMB Bank Branch and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) locator, which comes complete with maps and directions, currency convertor, home loan calculator, an one-click shortcut to CIMB Clicks website and CIMB Contact Us which enables users to call or email the CIMB call centre directly from their iPhone. Downloading the application is free.
