Malaysian shares were higher in early trade today as investors took the cue from the positive sentiment in the US market.
At 9.10 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) rose 3.64 points to 1,237.46, spurred by gains on most heavyweights. The index opened higher by 1.78 points to 1,235.60.
The FBM Emas Index increased 26.44 points to 8,305.87, the FBM Top 100 gained 25.64 points to 8,096.34, the FBM 70 advanced 32.92 points to 8,128.85 while the FBM ACE Index declined 5.07 points to 4,120.12.
The Finance Index increased 48.98 points to 10,381.18, the Plantation Index rose 5.24 points to 5,976.43 and the Industrial Index added 3.82 points to 2,658.65.
Advancers led decliners 126 to 19 with 62 counters unchanged while 1,087 others were untraded.
Turnover was thin with 43.106 million shares traded worth RM34.985 million.
Among the actives, IJM Corp Bhd-Warrants Rights rose four sen to 73 sen, Three-A Resources increased seven sen to RM1.01 and Time DotCom added 1.5 sen to 40.5 sen.
Among the heavyweights, Sime Darby was unchanged at RM8.60, Maybank increased three sen to RM6.77 and CIMB Group gained 10 sen to RM12.32. -- Bernama
