FBM KLCI extends gains in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI extended its gains from Oct 8 and rose 3.57 points to 1,233.66 at 9.05am today, lifted by gains at CIMB, Public Bank and PROTON HOLDINGS BHD [].

Trading volume was 27.61 million shares valued at RM32.31 million. There were 93 gainers, 15 losers and 70 counters traded unchanged.

CIMB rose 12 sen to RM12.24. The banking group emerged as the top gainer yesterday on positive outlook for the economy, as well as on a string of investment deals it has arranged.

Proton added 8 sen to RM4.03. The Edge Financial Daily reported the national carmaker to be in talks with India's Hero Group, the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in India by volume.

Other gainers in early trade today were Berjaya Land, Mudajaya and Public Bank, which added 10 sen each to RM4, RM3.70 and RM10.50, respectively, while China-based shoemaker Xingquan International gained 8 sen to RM1.42.

Maybank was among the top losers in early trade and fell 3 sen to RM6.74. Hai-O and Hubline lost 2 sen each to RM6.40 and 26 sen, while PLUS and NV Multi fell one sen each to RM3.33 and 65 sen.

IGB was the most actively traded stock with 4.2 million shares done. The counter rose 5 sen to RM1.76.

Other actively traded stocks included KNM, M Sports, Hubline, Kurasia, Green Packet and Genting Malaysia.
