KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Communications Bhd hopes to double its wireless broadband subscriber base by year-end.
Declining to provide exact numbers because of its pending IPO listing requirements, senior general manager and head of broadband unit Afizulazha Abdullah said while its wireless broadband base was not as big as its mobile base, the company was still seeing triple-digit growth in subscribers.
"We will meet our year-end target, and we will outperform 2009 next year by two times," said Afizulazha during a press briefing after the launch of Maxis Broadband's "Something for Everyone" campaign.
He said Maxis Broadband held a "fair share" of Malaysia's wireless broadband market and had completed its swap-out of its wireless broadband facilities to provide higher speeds to users.
The swap-out exercise has been completed in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor and is expected to be done country-wide by year end.
