KL shares open higher

Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose for the first day in three, adding 2.64, or 0.3 per cent, to 1,074.43 as of 9.15am. Three stocks gained for each that fell on the gauge. The following companies are among the most active in Malaysia trading.

Stock symbols are in parentheses. Sime Darby Bhd, a Malaysian plantation and property developer, rose 0.7 per cent to RM7.05, set for its highest close since June 1. The company it’s been invited by the Weifang government in China to participate in the development of an economic development zone near Weifang city.

The discussions include the “planning and development” of the economic zone, Sime said in a stock exchange filing. Suria Capital Holdings Bhd, a property developer, jumped 4.9 per cent to RM1.28, set for its highest close since May 8. The company said its unit SCHB Engineering Services Sdn Bhd received a RM1.82 million contract to upgrade the city mosque in Kota Kinabalu on Borneo. - Bloomberg
