KL shares easier at mid-morning

SHARE prices on Bursa Malaysia were easier at mid-morning as most market players abstained ahead of the weekend, said a dealer.

At 11.20am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index fell 3.58 points to 1,214.48. It opened 0.37 of a point easier at 1,217.69.

The FBMEmas slide 23.6 points to 8,175.93, the FBM Top 100 dwindled 25.2 points to 7,968.06, the FBM70 eased 32.3 points to 8,087.41 but the FBM ACE Index gained 5.26 points to 4,064.79.

The Technology Index inched up 0.05 of a point to 16.36, the Finance Index slipped 26.53 points to 9,992.47, the Plantation Index was down 39.73 points to 5,964.72 and the Industrial Index was 5.64 points lower at 2,653.02.

Decliners led advancers 261 to 163 with 233 counters unchanged and 597 untraded. Turnover was lower at 298.53 million shares worth RM300.66 million.

Of the actives, KNM perked two sen to 79 sen, Oil Corp slipped two sen to 17 sen and Hock Lok Siew Corp inched up 3.5 sen to 46 sen.

Among heavyweights, Sime Darby was flat at RM8.58, Maybank added one sen to RM6.68, CIMB Group lost six sen to RM11.18 and Tenaga was down one sen to RM8.20. - BERNAMA
