KL shares turn mixed at mid-morning

MALAYSIAN shares turned mixed at mid-morning today as players remained concern over the global economic outlook, dealers said. At 10.52 am, the benchmark Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) rose 0.01 of a point to 843.46 after opening 0.21 of a point higher at 843.66 compared with last Friday's close of 843.45."The market is expected to take the cue from regional markets," a dealer said. The Finance Index declined 29.17 points to 6,111.84, the Industrial Index increased 18.85 points to 2,061.46 and the Plantation Index fell 15.31to 4,399.52.

The FBMEmas decreased 5.92 points to 5,467.90,the FBM30 slipped 10.37 points to 5,371.19, while the FBM2BRD was 14.32 points higher at 3,827.54 and the FBM-MDQ climbed 88.11 points to 3,005.58. Decliners led advancers by 117 to 104, while 119 counters were unchanged, 903 untraded and 31 other counters were suspended.Volume amounted to 727.8 million shares valued at RM912.952million. Among the actives, Resorts fell six sen to RM1.87, Compugates lost half sen to 15 sen and KNM was unchanged at 33 sen. Among the heavyweights, Sime Darby gained 10 sen to RM5.50, Tenaga declined 15 sen to RM6.00, Maybank fell four sen to RM3.96 and Telekom rose two sen to RM3.50. - Bernama
